The past couple weeks I have been helping our neighbor harvest wheat. I have been hauling in the grain trucks. There are two trucks that I can drive and Edwin, 88 years old, drives the 3rd truck. I hauled about 400 bushel of wheat each load and made about 15 trips to the mill in Waterloo. It was a fun experience for me and for the kids. They went with me a few of the days. Wyatt absolutely loved riding in the combine with Arnold and Ellie liked helping me dump the wheat at the mill. While riding in the combine, we saw about 10 deer, a raccoon, lots of rabbits, and even a steer. Yes, a steer must have gotten loose from one of the cattle farms and he had made his new home in the wheat field!
