Update on Wyatt

Just letting you know what is going on with Wyatt. For several months, he has been sounding congested and like he can't breathe well. He has also been snoring extremely loud, no matter when or where he sleeps. So, I took him to his doctor and she had x-rays taken of his throat/nose. The results...his adenoids are swollen. She put him on Singular and referred us to an ear, nose, & throat doctor (ENT). Our friends gave us a name of a very good ENT at Cardinal Glennon. We took the x-rays with us and the ENT looked at Wyatt and confirmed that, yes, his adenoids are very large and need to be removed. He was also concerned with Wyatt's ears because there is a lot of fluid behind them, causing his drums not to move. Not sure if this is due to a recent cold or could mean possible tubes need to be put in. We are scheduled next Tuesday for a hearing test to see exactly what is going on. At that point we will schedule an appointment to have his adenoids removed. If tubes are needed, they will be put in during the same time as the removal of the adenoids. During this surgery, they cut out the adenoids and then seal the tissue. Wyatt will be put out of course. It should be a same day surgery...not a major procedure.
On thing we learned today was that once you hit your teenage years, your adenoids disappear. You grow them as a child and then the leave. Removing them at Wyatt's age does nothing but speed up the process. Hearing that made me feel a little more at ease with the whole thing. I will keep you inform after we take the hearing test.
